WRITE LIKE A HUMAN

Check your words. Is your AI showing?

AI has made writing accessible. Any guy off the street now can submit a prompt and get back a fully written email or landing page, or even an entire book. But that doesn’t mean the writing’s any good.

I’m not anti-AI, but I’ve read enough to know that most AI writing feels…dead. And dead writing stinks. It doesn’t inspire, and it sure doesn’t persuade folks to buy anything. Because it’s missing something. Life! You!

In Write Like a Human, a two-hour class led by me, Steph, a decade-long copywriter, you’ll learn skills you can apply immediately to put some soul in your business writing and marketing content, so it’s truly engaging the people reading it.

Friday, August 21
3–5 pm ET over Zoom

Want to come but can’t make the date? Get on the waitlist for the next class. If you have questions, drop me an email at steph@stephspector.com.

SYLLABUS

What we’ll cover

BLOOD OR WIRES 🤖

The psychological effects of reading AI writing vs human writing. Obvious giveaways that AI wrote your content. Subtler signs, too.

FINDING YOUR STYLE 🔎

Why all the big brands I’ve written or edited for have a style guide—and how to create your own. What “style” actually means. How it differs from voice and tone.

WRITE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT 🏃‍♀️‍➡️

How to ethically lift inspiration from others’ writing. Why you should read fiction, even if—especially if!—you’re not a creative writer. Imitation drills. Automated swipe files.

SENTENCE ANATOMY 🫀

Grammar rules, style guidelines, and rhetorical devices worth knowing. How to bend (or altogether break) the rules to connect more with readers.

Includes Q&A time. Everyone who signs up gets a booklet in advance, designed to help you follow along during the class and retain the material afterward.

This class applies to anyone who:

☑️ Wants to be a stronger, more confident writer
☑️ Uses AI, or doesn’t…doesn’t matter, everybody’s welcome
☑️ Writes emails, Slack messages, blog posts, landing pages, website copy, newsletters, long-form content, or any other type of business writing or marketing copy

What you won’t get:

✖️ A bunch of prompts and SKILL.md files so you can generate e-ver-y-thing with AI. Good writing requires thinking, which does require some manual work.
✖️ A grumpy writer bashing AI for two hours. I want to show you how to write in a way that honors your voice, respects your audience, and pops, whether you use AI or not.
