I don’t know what the F@#! I’m talking about
This is hyperbolic, obviously. I’ve been working for 10 years. I know a few things. But I don’t claim to be an expert. I’m not “better” or smarter than you. English is nuanced and always evolving, and I’m not its final authority. I promise to be honest when I don’t know something, quick to admit when I’m wrong, and open to other perspectives. I’ve always appreciated humility in my teachers. I offer my students the same.
I don’t want to see you twice
To be clear, people do take classes with me more than once, sometimes working with me for years. And I love that. Please return to me. 😂 All I’m saying is I strive for my lessons to be so valuable that you never have to come back. I make time to answer questions in and after class. I avoid gatekeeping—if there are free or alternate resources I know about, I share them. And I give you as much material as I can while keeping things fun and digestible.
we’re all gonna die
Life is short. I don't want to spend hours blabbing in a classroom of people who are bored senseless, no more than you want to be in that classroom. In my classes, we laugh. We make fun of ourselves. I'm plainspoken and practical. And it's seriously fun…not in that corny, forced kind of way that makes you want to crawl out of your skin, actual fun. People have told me this atmosphere helps the material stick, too.
classes are snowflakes
I’ve taught and coached people from all walks of life. Nuns. Sugar daddies. High school dropouts. CFOs. A Real Housewife of New York. A fitness coach People magazine named Sexiest Trainer Alive. A guy who has lucid dreams featuring the ghost of Neville Goddard. (Loved that guy.) In 10 years, I’ve never taught the same class twice because no group of students was ever the same. I adjust my teaching style on the fly—sometimes even switching up the material—to best serve the collective unit and every person in it.
